What is on Sardaarji’s mind

I am so curious to know what goes on in Sardaarji’s mind. Does an inflation rate of 5.24 per cent give him sleepless nights, or is WPI not his flavour of inflation indices? Does he think about the implications of the 10-year bond yield stomping away to 9 per cent? Is he concerned about what Ben Bernanke is saying or does he totally outsource those kind of worries to YV Reddy…or Chidambaram. Does he miss Greenspan?

Does his wife tell him that he should control prices for the aam aadmi? Does he know the price of anything? Does he know what he pays for his power, or water? Does it bother him that almost a third of the people of his country do not get enough to eat? That they sleep hungry. Does he see the child beggar on the roads and wonder why the kid is not in school. Does he see that woman labourer lifting the load of bricks on her head and feel embarrassed? Has he ever felt like going up to her and saying — This is not your job maam. Let me help.

Does private enterprise and efficiency inspire him? Does he know that he can change the squeaky wheel of babudom? Does he know that anything the public sector does, the private does better? Does he know the value of money he collects from me, and millions of others, in the form of taxes? Does it know that it hurts to see that money earned by our toil and sweat being splurged to buy luxuries for a group of people with dubious morality?

Does he realise that he can do more than simply let the system “run” on its own steam? Does he know that he has an opportunity to change some of these things? Is he changing them? Does he think leadership? Does he think fundamental change?

Or is the debate in his mind limited to reservation for a group of people who may or may not be poor…and other such esoteric concerns!

I think, it does. But like all Sardarjis, he has his own limitations. However, this limitation (like others) is not the Power to Think, its Power to Act/ Apply. Tierd by the vicious chain of left and right, we must hail Sardarji to hold on for so long. Cheers for the spirit of Sardarji…
