During the visit of Prime Minister Shri Jawaharlal Nehru in 1953 to Sikkim, a delegation of traders from Sikkim met under the leadership of Shri Motilal Lakhotia , then President of Sikkim Chamber of Commerce.

They urged him to  persuade the Tibetian Government to permit opening of shops by Sikkim traders in Yatung. After a few days, permissions were given and more than 200 shops came up in a few months, is just 30 kms from Nathula. Read the rest of this entry »

Painful Administration, Suffering Citizens

It is very painful to watch the administration or lack of it which due to corruption  not working and the citizens having  to suffer. No government employee loses his job for shoddy work done. We pay their salaries through the taxes collected and yet nobody is made responsible.
