During the visit of Prime Minister Shri Jawaharlal Nehru in 1953 to Sikkim, a delegation of traders from Sikkim met under the leadership of Shri Motilal Lakhotia , then President of Sikkim Chamber of Commerce. They urged him to persuade the Tibetian Government to permit opening of shops by Sikkim traders in Yatung.
